Hello everyone, this is Horaidenki MAD TEAM from the Technology Department of the Maracle Anime Club at Southwest Jiaotong University!
The last Chengdu University MAD competition received an excellent response, and the enthusiastic participation of many prominent figures from various universities truly surprised us. The friendly atmosphere among everyone has also deeply touched us. In response to everyone's enthusiasm, after careful planning, we are excited to announce the official launch of the Third Chengdu University MAD Contest and the 27th Red & White MAD Contest!
This Chengdu University MAD Contest is organized byHoraidenki MAD TEAMorganized,Infinite Team,HCCG-MAD-TEAMare co-organized and has invited the anime clubs from Sichuan University, University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, Southwestern University of Finance and Economics, Chengdu University of Technology, Chengdu University of Information Technology, Southwest Petroleum University, Chengdu Medical College, and Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine to participate together. This competition targets all current students and graduates from universities in the Sichuan-Chongqing region, aiming to create a positive and friendly MAD exchange atmosphere and promote offline interactions among MADers in Chengdu, as well as foster the development of new talent from universities.
The Red & White MAD Contest was originally an offline MAD competition held by the Horaidenki MAD TEAM at Southwest Jiaotong University in 2011. It has now been held 26 times, boasting a rich history. This competition encourages newcomers to participate, and we always uphold the principle of prioritizing participation. We look forward to your enthusiastic submissions and the unique sparks that will emerge from interactions among MADers from different universities.
(It should be noted that this Red & White Contest has no relation to the ancient Japanese Red & White contests.)

Competition Rules
Due to the number of submissions in the last competition exceeding our expectations, we have made the following modifications to the competition format in order to manage the time for the offline event.
This Chengdu University MAD Contest has removed the classification between the performance group and the competition group; all submissions will now be categorized asRed groupandBlack Group.
At the same time, we have establishedaround 25 nominated works.The quantity (which may fluctuate based on the total duration of all submissions). After the submission deadline, we will conduct an initial online screening of the works to select the nominated submissions. If the total number of submissions is insufficient, all will be considered nominated.
Nominated works will be matched for competition during the offline event based on their types, prioritizing matchups within the same category (e.g., still images against still images, AMVs against AMVs, etc.).,Due to the varying number of submissions in each category, there may be some instances of cross-category matchups..NominatedWorkd will be played offline by group. After each group presentation, both the on-site audience and the online viewers will cast their votes, while the judges will score and provide brief comments.
Based on the weighted scores from the audience and judges, we will award 1 First Prize, 3 Second Prizes, and 6 Third Prizes. Additionally, we will also select individual awards such as the Best Newcomer Award and the Best Fun Award.
The final interpretation of scores and awards belongs to the organizing committee of the Red & White MAD Contest.
Submission Requirements
1. Format Requirements: Submission resolution must be no lower than 720p and no higher than 4K. There are no restrictions on the frame rate, and the format must be MP4.
2.Previously publicly released works before the offline performance will not be accepted,duplicate submissions are not accepted, and works involving political content, incitement, or any other sensitive topics will not be accepted.
3. Any form of three edits, imitations, theft, plagiarism, or works that do not meet creative standards, as well as unfinished works, will not be accepted.
4. When submitting, please package the video and cover (a text document can be included) together and send it to the designated contact person at your school (find them among the competition group management). If there is no designated contact, please send the submission directly to the organizer's representative, Teacher Neri.
5. Please note: This competition is targeted atuniversities in Chengdu’scurrent studentsandgraduates,This is a non-fully open competition, so please indicate your school and grade when submitting. (If any local MADers from Chengdu wish to participate, they can contact the organizers privately.)
6. Due to considerations regarding the awards and event logistics, in principle, all participantsneed to be present at the event,If authors are unable to attend due to scheduling or other reasons, they must arrange fora proxyto accept the award on their behalf,all prizes will be distributed on-site.
7. Submission Duration: Considering the time constraints for the offline viewing, all submissions must be between 40 seconds and 6 minutes. Works that do not meet the minimum duration requirement or exceed the maximum duration will not be nominated.
8. Each participant is limited to a maximum of two submissions. The final score will be based on the highest-scoring work. MEP submissions and judge submissions will not be ranked or scored.

It is important to emphasize that this competition is not a competitive event. Our primary goal is to foster communication and encourage newcomers, aiming to create a harmonious MAD community in Chengdu where everyone can enjoy the time spent together watching MAD works. We hope to see more newcomers join the MAD creation community, so we encourage everyone to communicate warmly and kindly. Please avoid excessive disputes over prizes and rankings, as this goes against our original intention.
This competition is more geared towards newcomers, and we hope that all new authors will actively submit their works. All submitted works, regardless of whether they are nominated or not, will receiveat least one brief review and suggestion from a judging teacher.Additionally, there will be a participation award, so we encourage everyone to submit their works enthusiastically!
