What are MAD Organizations?
In the early 2000s, internet penetration in China was relatively low, the mechanisms of major video websites were still underdeveloped, opportunities for exchange between China and Japan were limited, and there were no anime conventions. Therefore, making MADs at that time faced technical and communication difficulties, and it was very hard for an individual to complete a production alone. Enthusiasts thus gathered together to jointly complete a work. Because website development was not mature enough, after a MAD was completed it could only be distributed by a few people producing DVDs, which were then sold to anime conventions. This was the origin of Teams.
Later, as Japanese copyright control became increasingly strict, DVD production was also restricted. Around 2010, the internet gradually developed and improved, and MAD creators began to establish websites for MAD submissions. Around 2013, Bilibili (Bilibili) rose rapidly, and creators began to shift to publishing works on Bilibili. The form of Teams also changed accordingly, from offline to purely online. However, the tradition that offline Team members could only join one Team has been preserved to this day, hence the saying "one person can only join one Team."
Today's MAD organizations can be roughly divided into five categories:
- Team: A Team is generally a place where a group of high-quality MAD enthusiasts gather, and it is also the identity characteristic that best reflects your strength. The overall quality of a Team is very high, requiring you to maintain a certain level of activity, and the entry threshold is relatively high, but you can gain a better communication environment and a quiet small circle.
- Club: A Club is generally a place where MAD enthusiasts gather. Clubs usually have a large number of members, a low threshold, and a good communication atmosphere.
- Studio: A Studio is generally a group of people gathered for a specific goal. Some Studios also provide a large number of commercial commissions for profit. Entry requirements vary depending on the situation.
- Group chats: Some group chats are full of mad from all walks of life, and they will chat with you about everything in these group chats.
- Contest organizers: Many organizations are themselves contest organizers, so they are not displayed on this page.
